Not much is known about this Eleazar of Modi'im, yet what information does survive suggests that he was among the most respected religious leaders of the Bar Kokhba War era. Ultimately killed during the revolt, tradition has it that his death directly caused the collapse of the rebellion. 
 
He is depicted here preaching to a crowd of rebels, delivering a (hopefully) morale boosting sermon prior to them facing the Roman legions in battle.
