What’s on the horizon in 2026 for Northwing Miniatures?

With the end of 2025 now only hours away, I thought this would be an excellent moment to reflect on what has happened this year, and what’s on the agenda for 2026.
2025 has been a an incredibly busy year. Obviously Northwing Miniatures has been formally set up and we have started selling our long-planned Jewish Revolt against Rome miniatures. 13 figures are now available, with more in the pipeline as we’ll discuss later…I want to thank everyone who has purchased from us (well, me, it’s a one-man band after all), Your support has been incredible, and hugely appreciated. We were nominated in the Wargames Illustrated 2025 Awards in the “New Business” category. We have also had several nice reviews in a couple of magazines, including WSS and WI. The best thing though has been seeing people start to paint my figures! The fact that people actually like what I am producing makes it all worthwhile. Genuinely, this has been fantastic and has been very inspiring for me personally.
Naturally, this past year has been a huge learning curve for me. To begin with I have never run my own business. I have had to educate myself on a huge range of subjects, from sculpting, casting, to website building, shipping regulations, and more. While this has been a fascinating journey, it is one I have only been able to take thanks to the generous help and guidance provided by a plethora of people. Special thanks must go to Annie Norman at Bad Squiddo for the encouragement and advice she has given me, as well as Alan Marsh for his absolutely superb sculpting. The team at Griffin Moulds has also been immensely helpful in guiding me through the casting process. There are too many people to thank each one individually, but thank you everyone, your support has been hugely appreciated.

Unfortunately, while I had grand plans for the second half of the year, these were seriously disrupted by our decision to move house. Having started the process in June, we finally moved into our new house on December 17th. Along the way we had to pull out of a purchase (due to finding subsidence combined with the seller trying to hide problems from us) and had to deal with a host of the usual problems caused by solicitors, banks, etc. As well as draining much of my time (and money), I also found myself mentally exhausted by this. However, now that we have moved in I find myself refreshed and energised, ready to get stuck into developing more minis, some of which are pictured in this blog.

In broad strokes, the plan for 2026 is to develop the existing Jewish Revolt range, while also branching off into new ranges. The tentative release plan is as follows. In Q1 we will release three new characters and a pack of three slingers for the Jewish Revolt range. Then in Q2 we will release a brand-new range – “The Ratkin Reavers”. This will consist of 15 fantasy figures (all metal) with an historical vibe, suitable for games such as Mordheim. In Q3 and Q4 I hope to start selling a range of scatter terrain to accompany both the Jewish Revolt and Ratkin Reavers. Along the way I will be writing a number of articles for various wargames magazines with scenarios and ideas for using these figures in. It will be a hectic year, but an exciting one I hope!

Something else I want to commit to doing is posting on this blog at least a monthly basis. A lot happens behind the scenes that I would like to share with you, and getting into a routine of sharing that would be helpful for me. And now that the madness that is moving house is finally over I will have more time to do so (although the madness that is fixing up the new house has only just begun, if anyone knows some good electricians and plumbers I’m all ears!)
Anyway, with all that said, if you have made it this far I just want to wish you all a very happy New Year. I hope you continue to follow along as Northwing Miniatures develops and grows. And if you have any comments, suggestions, etc, please let me know.
All the very best
David
