A belated update

Updated: 2 days ago

I had intended on writing an update each month this year. So much for good intentions. Unfortunately, real life has been somewhat hectic.

We moved house the week before Christmas, and while we knew we had a lot of work to do on the new home, the amount of work has been greater than we anticipated. So I have spent much of my spare time outside my (paying) job doing DIY. Whilst this has been fun, it has also taken me away from Northwing Miniatures for longer than I would have liked. However, as I am sure you appreciate, getting the house up to standard must take priority. Things like getting a safe fuse box installed and a bathroom that does not leak (!) are not things that can be put off.

My day job has also been busier than expected. I have been fortunate enough to persuade my employer to pay for me to do another degree level qualification, which I started in February. This will take me approximately two years to complete, requiring roughly a day a week commitment from a studying perspective. While most of this takes place during working hours (again, very generous of my employer), learning and studying can be quite draining. Consequently, I have found myself lacking the mental capacity after finishing work to do as much as I would want.

In more fun news, I have also been fortunate enough to go away for a week on a battlefield tour of Market Garden with my father. This was a truly fascinating experience, and will, inevitably, lead to me writing a couple of scenarios for WSS! It was great to spend some time with the old man while trekking around Belgium and Holland.

Anyway, I have made my excuses (apologies if this all sounds a bit self-centred), and hopefully you understand why I have been a little quiet as of late.

The next Northwing release!
The next Northwing release!

In more positive news, with the arrival of Spring I have found myself reinvigorated. Alan has been hard at work on my Rat-Kin Reavers (so excited), and I may have found myself a local artist who might be doing me some artwork to support this new venture. Watch this space...  I have really appreciated everyone who has commented, liked and shared the content I have been putting out there on the socials, and hopefully I will be able to do more on this front going forward.

Finally, if you have got this far thank you for reading! I will hopefully have some more concrete and interesting news in my May update.

All the best, David.
