January 2026 Update

One of my New Year commitments was to write a blog post at least once a month, and this month I have already managed a couple about the new sculpts that Alan Marsh has been working on for me.

I do still have posts pending about our third new character model and our new box of slingers

However, I also wanted to give you a little summary of what I have been up to this past month with Northwing Miniatures. We have been relatively quiet on social media while we wait for the new sculpts to arrive, but the good news is that they are now with Griffin Miniatures for casting, so hopefully it won’t be too long until the arrive. They are also doing me a restock of our first wave of figures too - it's hard to believe they have already nearly sold out.

Meanwhile, having finished the additions to the Jewish Revolts range, Alan Marsh has made a start on a new range of figures for Northwing, the “Rat-Kin Reavers”. This is an exciting departure for me, and gives me some scope to go a bit wild with my imagination! In the first wave there will be a full warband of 15 figures, perfect for something like Mordheim or Frostgrave. To support this range I have been experimenting with making moulds for casting terrain pieces. While this is still in its embryonic stage, I think there are some interesting possibilities there for in-house casting so watch this space. I have also been working on some fun new stickers to include in orders.

However, behind all this exciting news has been a lot of administration and pressures over rising costs. I have been ordering new boxes to put the freshly cast miniatures in (the price of which has increased by about 20% since last year), and updating the website. I have been considering increasing my postage price in-line with the latest Royal Mail price rises, but I am holding fast for now. I won’t use EVRI or its ilk due to the problems I have experienced with them, despite the fact that they are a little cheaper. For my peace of mind and my customers I will only use Royal Mail tracked services. In other news, the latest round of tariff threats and associated nonsense has made me realise that any hope of re-opening shipping to the USA will have to wait for the foreseeable future. Lots to think about, much of which is quite boring, but worth mentioning to show that running a small business is not all fun and games.

So, all in all a deceptively quiet month. Hopefully this time next month I will be able to report to you that our new miniatures are on sale!

All the best

David
